Today's Soundtrack

This idea came from a really awful attempt at sleeping (punctuated with some really amusing dreams). Each time I woke up, I found one specific song stuck in my head. I kept track of that as best as I could, and found that it kept going throughout the day. The following aren't necessarily my favourite songs right now, my favourite songs of all time, or even songs I like, but they are all songs that got inexplicably stuck in my head at one point or another today:

Skinny Love - Bon Iver
Lost in the World ft. Bon Iver - Kanye West
Cavanaugh Park - Something Corporate
A.D.H.D. - Kendrick Lamar
In My Life - The Beatles
Glass Table Girls - The Weeknd

It's a pretty short list, but I'm trying to stay true to the criteria. I'm only going to throw songs on here that naturally got stuck in my head, through no planning or efforts of my own. I'll try to add some more in the coming days, if I can.

Let me know what you come up with or if you want any of these thrown on mediafire.

What are you looking forward to this summer? New job? Summer blockbusters? Lay it out there, guys. Albums, concerts, camping trips, the Stanley Cup returning to Canada, whatever.

Enter the Summer

I think it feels a little bit like the appropriate time for a summer to-do list. Partly because it's now the summer, partly because I've got nothing else to be doing, and partly because I need to picture what I will be doing to get me through this dull night. I've forgotten how to be this dull.

1. Watch 48 of the top 100 films of IMDb:
Which is actually closer to 47.5, since I've got American Beauty jamming in the background.
2. Read three books:
Which is actually closer to 2.5, because I'm midway through one now.
3. Write something lengthy:
Like a short story or whatever. But on a related note...
4. Write at least 3 letters:
Like, legitimate, real letters. At least one is headed to France.
5. Watch Community:
I've got, like, this huge thing with Donald Glover.

I've forgotten how to be this dull. I've probably been over-stimulating my brain recently. Lots of activity and business. If nothing else, it keeps my brain flowing steady. Seems about time for a quote, and since I'm watching this film...
"It's a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself. Makes you wonder what else you can do that you've forgotten about."
This movie is shaping up. So is my night. Or week. So what's something you can do that you forgot about? Give it another run. You've got the time for it. Don't lie to yourself.

The Mountain from Terje Sorgjerd on Vimeo.

Don't lie to yourself. All it is is a waste of time. Because you can't move forward when you're doing that. Do you know what I mean? Just stuck in a little bit of a hiatus. Ever have that? Everything freezes for a time.

I'm out of steam.

Lovedrug - Our War

We all love American girls when they're dreaming
and everyone enjoys their lives
lovers chase the rain with an empty water can
and diligence shuts their eyes

We gotta finish our boats now before the tides come in
what a pleasant distraction from the outcome
of this world that we live in

This is our war, so don't lose it
this is our only chance, so don't let it pass
through your eye's there's a choir singing
da da da da da da da
this is our war
this is our war

We all love kids who can play in the cities
and how no one could feel more alive
trading off toys for sun glasses that can
cover another black eye

We gotta finish our drinks now before the tide comes in
what a pleasant distraction from the outcome
of these cities we lived in

This is our war, so don't lose it
this our only chance, so don't let it pass
through your eyes there's a choir singing
da da da da da da da
this our war, so don't lose it
this is our second chance, so don't let it pass
through your eyes there's a choir singing

Battling is bound to leave blood on the ground
this war is a choir and this choir has a sound
da da da da da da da

Hero Diary

This is kind of small, but something I saw that totally made my day was a police officer who was pulled over helping a guy with his flat tire. It was pretty cool to see. Maybe that's just me.

HERO DIARY: Post #1

Hey you know how everyone usually just posts stuff on their facebook walls when they here epic stories of said "everyday" heroes. Well I just thought it would be cool to keep up a HERO DIARY here, I think it'll be really cool to see what washes ashore here over the next while, and look back at it hopefully like a year from now just to keep epic stories on our minds.

Also Andy and others don't give up on this place.
